After securing a deal with Skype, it looks like Microsoft will be giving Windows Live Messenger the boot in 2013.  Yesterday Microsoft announced the news.  Microsoft might be doing a good thing as Windows Live Messenger has been stale for a few years now and moving to something new and fresh is a good start for Microsoft in 2013.
