James Van Doren, the man who designed the popular Vans shoe that still reigns as the main footwear choice of skaters and hipsters alike, passed away at the age of 72. Mister Cartoon designs his version of the Vans OTW Collection’s Alomar. He uses embroidery stitching to tag the full grain leather/high grade nubuck uppers of the high top with his signature script. Kicks: Vans OTW Collection Holiday 2011: The Alomar
Here’s a first look at the Holiday 2011 Alomar from the Vans OTW Collection. The line up has two new colorways – grey suede/gum sole and black nubuck/antique sole combos. The Alomar takes styling cues from our Classic Chukka Boot and infuses those subtleties with the fashionable aspects of a modern, slimmed down high top to create a shoe that pushes the boundaries between skate and street fashion.
