NBA: Gregg Popovich Explains Why He’s Hostile to Reporters During Game Interviews

Before Marshawn Lynch gained major media attention for well refusing to speak to the media, there was someone else who’s interviews always captured attention, Gregg Popovich.  The San Antonio Spurs coach is notorious for his short in game interviews which are sometimes only seconds long and he’ll check you quick if you ask a dumb or poorly phrased question.  So with Lynch’s style being the subject of discussion, people turned back to Popovich, and he explained his position.

(Video) NBA: Boris Diaw Launches Half-Court Shot Which Hits Gregg Popovich in the Head

The Spurs were getting beaten fairly soundly by the Clippers on Saturday, to the point where San Antonio trailed by 14 points as the first half came to a close.  That explains Gregg Popovich heading to the locker room before the final buzzer sounded, but that decision ended up putting him in the line of fire of one of his player’s shots — and Boris Diaw did not miss.

(Video) NBA: P.J. Hairston With Most Dramatic Flop Ever, Falls All the Way onto Coach Popovich

The NBA has been trying to get rid of flopping by introducing small fines but that hasn’t stopped these millionaire basketball players from committing them.  NBA players flop in part because it is extremely difficult for referees to tell the difference between legitimate contact and an embellishment or fabrication.  Then there are others that are so blatantly bad, you can tell right away.  Enter P.J, Hairston.

It started off as a joke but the curse of Josh Smith is starting to look real.  His former team, the Atlanta Hawks are at the top of the Eastern Conference with a 26-8 record and now the Detroit Pistons have gone 6-0 since they shockingly waived his massive contract and dropped him from the team.

Just yesterday I posted a video of the Florida State Seminoles beating the Florida Gators after Jacob Kurtz of Florida inadvertently tipped the ball in the wrong basket at the buzzer, giving the Seminoles the win.  Well Wednesday night it happened again, this time in the NBA.

(Video) NBA: LeBron James Has Crucial Turnover on Final Play as Spurs Beat Cavaliers

The fans who refer to LeBron James as LeChoke had quite a time last night as the San Antonio Spurs beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 92-90.  It was an exciting matchup as expected as the NBA Champions took on LeBron and the new look Cavaliers.  The game came down to the wire as Manu Ginobli hit 1-of-2 freethrows giving the Spurs a 92-90 lead.  The Cavaliers had 9 seconds to hit a shot to tie or win the game when James was dribbling to half court and lost control of the ball, committing his fifth and final turnover of the game.  Ginobli recovered the ball and dribbled it out as the clock ran down.  When the buzzer hit LeBron simply put his hand up taking blame for the loss and walked off the court.
