Posted by Sabrina B. @gametimegirl Cam Newton was treated like a starter during his preseason finale. He led one efficient drive, threw a touchdown pass and exited. Then, after the game, his coach made it official: Newton will start for the Carolina Panthers in their opener.
NFL: Eagles’ Vince Young Leaves Preseason Game Against Jets With Leg Injury
Posted by Sabrina B. @gametimegirl Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Vince Young hurt his right leg late in the first half against the New York Jets on Thursday night. Young rolled out on a fourth-down play and was about to run for the first down when his right leg stuck in the turf. He wound up throwing an incomplete pass as he went down, then immediately limped to the sideline.

NFL: President Obama’s Jobs Speech To Conflict With NFL Season Opener
Posted by Sabrina B. @gametimegirl President Barack Obama has acceded to House Speaker John Boehner’s wishes to deliver an address on jobs and the economy to a joint session of Congress on Sept. 8. The president had requested Sept. 7 for the long-anticipated speech.
