The former NBA player of the Hawks and Nets has been sentenced today in trial. He was charged with the death of Monica Murphy, a mother of five, in a head-on collision in Clayton County in 2013. Details continue to come in regarding the tragic car accident involving former NBA all-star Mookie Blaylock. Physically the worst seems to have passed, as his condition was upgraded again in the hospital after he had surgery on his ankle. But emotionally things may be just getting started as there is a chance he will be charged with vehicular manslaughter as a result of the accident that left Monica Murphy dead. She could not overcome the injuries she suffered when Blaylock’s SUV hit the van she was riding in with her husband head on. Turns out Mookie was not even supposed to be driving any vehicle period. NBA:(Video) *Update* Mookie Blaylock Upgraded To Critical Condition
Early this morning, former Hawks All-Star Mookie Blaylock was taken off of life support and his condition was upgraded to critical. He is now in guarded condition, but seems that he is improving, even if it is slowly. Sadly one of the passengers in the van he hit, 43 Monica Murphy was pronounced dead late last night as a result from the crash. She was riding in a van with her Husband, Frankie, when they were struck head on by Mookie’s Escalade. The husband sustained a broken ankle. Jonesboro, Georgia Police chief Franklin Allen said Blaylock has a history of seizures and they are trying to determine if he had one just before he lost control. This is a very sad story and our hearts and prayers go out to Monica Murphy and her family. Let us also pray that Mookie’s condition continues to improve. Current and former NBA players are sending their love and prayers today to Mookie Blaylock and his family. The former Atlanta Hawks standout player is currently on life support after a car crash in Georgia earlier today.
