The HBO star “Treme” says last June he went to Macy’s flagship store in Herald Square in NYC to buy his mom a Movado watch as a graduation present. Brown claims, “after purchasing the $1,300 Movado timepiece, he went on the hunt for a pair of sunglasses when he was stopped in the middle of the store by 3 white guys who he believes were NYPD cops. The officers began to “publicly and falsely” accuse him of committing credit card fraud. He says he was then cuffed and paraded around the store “like an already convicted common criminal.” Brown says he was then thrown into a holding cell for an hour. When cops realized who he was, Brown says he was released. And, Brown claims, “cops then tried to whitewash the situation by offering to give him a police escort to his mom’s graduation.” Brown says this has been a big problem with Macy’s so he’s filed it as a class action lawsuit.
SMH! Actor Robert Green, who has starred in such blockbusters as “Finding Forrester” and the HBO show “Treme”, is filing a lawsuit against Macy’s for racial discrimination. He says after shopping for a gift for his mother, an employee called the police and he was arrested. Green claims he walked through Herald Square in cuffs and was detained for more than an hour. The actor spent $1,000 at the store, buying sunglasses for himself and an expensive watch for his mother. Upon making the purchase, he used his debit card and showed a proper i.d. A video has went viral on the internet, showing a New York City police officer acting in an unprofessional mannor and yelling sexual taunts after giving a Mr. Softee driver a summons. The officer gave the driver a ticket for being in a no parking zone on West 34th Street, near Macy’s. The Street Vendor Group states that police officers are constantly disrespectful and are using the video to validate their complaint. To see the video, click below.
