LG is accusing Samsung of infringing its eye-tracking patents. The new GALAXY S 4 by Samsung has eye-tracking capabilities called Smart Pause and Optimus G Pro by LG has Smart Video which also has eye-tracking. LG says that in the years 2005 and 2009, they applied for patents for eye-tracking with the ability to pause a video with your eyes and both devices do this. Right now LG has to wait for the release of Galaxy S4 to be positive that their patent was actually infringed.
LG recently jumped Apple to become the #2 manufacture in the United States, now it looks like LG is in the works to undercut Apple in the laptop business with their new Ultrabook. LG just introduced their new U560 packs a 15.6-inch display and an optical drive that only weighs 4.3 pounds and has a thickness of 0.82-inch. LG is getting is pep back as word from Yonhap News that data from Hong Kong-based that LG has jumped Apple as the #2 Manufacturer of cell phones/smartphones in the United States. After December the market shares show that LG has 13% of the market while Apple now has 12% of the market. This could be due to the recent release of the Google Nexus. LG and Google werent able to give the masses the Nexus 4, but it looks like they are cooking up the Nexus 5.A korean website says they have some inside info stating that Google and LG are already in the lab cooking a new device, ready for a May release. According to The website the alleged specs for the device is “a 5-inch full-HD display, a quad-core Tegra 4 processor, 8GB or 16GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel camera and Android “Key Lime Pie,” the next version of Google’s mobile operating system”. LG is looking to move more than 75 million devices in 2013, and looking to expand out of the world of Android and begin offering Windows devices later this year. With Samsung dominating Android LG might be looking in another direction to get more mobile share on a new OS. Microsoft’s windows have’nt exactly taken off yet but thats something LG plans on changing with their Windows branded devices. “We will release quite a number of new Optimus devices this year and LG also has some new smartphones in the works, that will run Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8,” a senior executive from one of LG’s local partners said.
