We reported earlier today that Apple planned on partnering with Tom Tom to improve their mapping situation. AllthingsD has learned that Apple has waved the white flag and is allowing Google to house their maps on iOS devices again. How will the app work is the big question. Prior to dropping Google maps from iOS devices Apple and Google went back and forth on the option of having Google assist in Apple’s own maps but Google decline which might have fueled Apple to drop Google in the first place. Google Steps In To Save Educators Big Bucks !!!
The Chromebook has done a great job in the computer market. Being a low cost unit, with mid to high range capabilities it’s perfect for the average researcher or browser/e-mail user. Google has done great research to see the educational effect of the Chromebooks being in classrooms. Over 1,000 schools have adopted them already, with many already on the list. Google is working with DonorsChoose.org which is an online charity that connects donors directly to public school needs. This holiday season teachers can request the Samsung Series 5 Chromebook, which is one of the most widely deployed models in schools, for $150-credit off the retail price of the unit. Motorola has a slew of devices running the Android OS. They went live with a list of devices that will receive the long awaited Jelly Bean. After Google releases a new build of software they send it to the carriers to be approved for release. Tech Talk News: Kids Prefer Google & Wikipedia Over Books For Research
Back in my era the kids had to actually do research at the library were we had to read and look for the information i needed or look though an encyclopedia. Those days are long gone, but a new study by The Pew Internet and American Life Project shows that 94% of kids are likely to use Google and Wikipedia for all of their researching, how I envy these kids.
