Essence Festival Had The Highest Attendance In Its 20 Year History For 2014!
The Essence Festival’s 20th anniversary set a record for annual attendance, with more than 550,000 participants celebrating over 4 days this past weekend in New Orleans! “I woke up this morning and felt a great sense of pride and gratitude,” Essence Communications Inc. president Michelle Ebanks said about the feat. The annual show this year included amazing performances highlighted by Prince, Richie, Charlie Wilson, Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Janelle Monae, Trey Songz and more. They’ve already begun work on next year’s event, which coincides with the 45th anniversary of the magazine.

A few months back, Elle Varner told a cute story of how her social awkwardness led to her accidentally “curving” Meek Mill once upon a time, when she totally hadn’t meant to. In response, Meek revealed he didn’t even remember the incident, so clearly, he wasn’t offended by the curve. What we learned from all of this, though? Meek wants to holla at Elle, apparently! So, more than a couple eyebrows were raised during BET Weekend and Essence Fest weekend, as both we spotted together more than once, on top of them making it quite clear on Instagram. These two seem like an unlikely couple, though, so I think they’re just having a little fun with pictures. What do you guys think?
