Posted by Sabrina B. @gametimegirl George Maloof was walking through the Palms casino on Saturday when someone surprised him with a bear hug.  When Maloof turned to face the exuberant greeter he recognized IndyCar driver Dan Wheldon. They had developed a bond six years earlier, when Wheldon won the Indianapolis 500 as a rookie with the Palms as a first-time sponsor of Michael Andretti’s racing team.

Remembering IndyCar Driver Dan Wheldon
Dan Wheldon, who moved to the United States from his native England with hopes of winning the Indianapolis 500 and went on to twice prevail at his sport’s most famed race, died Sunday after a massive, fiery wreck at the Las Vegas Indy 300. He was 33 years old and will be seriously missed. @gametimegirl x @Shay_Marie
