Today is the NBA trade deadline and several teams have been in quite a frenzy. One of the big trades announced today is the homecoming of Kevin Garnett. The All-Star is heading back to the Minnesota Timberwolves to finish things off where he began.
The Brooklyn Nets want to trade Deron Williams, Joe Johnson and Brook Lopez. With the trade deadline steadily approaching, they’ve exhausted several different possibilities. This is the latest.
The Brooklyn Nets are tumbling down. They have a 18-28 record with the 9th spot in the Eastern Conference. So it would only seem logical that Kevin Garnett would jump ship, seek a buyout and join a contender. At 38-years old, this could be his final season in the league. Well it turns out leaving the Nets isn’t in his plans.
The Brooklyn Nets have been actively trying to trade Deron Williams, Joe Johnson and Brook Lopez but so far deals for all three have fallen through. The Denver Nuggets are still trying to trade for Brook Lopez but the Nets have rejected their offer.
The Brooklyn Nets were recently trying to bring in hometown player Lance Stephenson. He hasn’t been playing so well since leaving the Indiana Pacers and signing with the Hornets so Charlotte is also eager to get a deal done. The Nets however were unable to find a practical solution in unloading center Brook Lopez and couldn’t come to an agreement on a three-team trade despite discussing options with several teams. They put a hold on talks and now reportedly have a new solution; to move struggling guard Joe Johnson in the deal.
The Brooklyn Nets are looking to trade Brook Lopez, Deron Williams and Joe Johnson. Lopez is most likely to be moved as he has value on the court as a scoring big man and he is owed just one more season after this one. The Miami Heat have long been looking to increase in size and have Lopez on their radar.
