This is straight up HORRIFIC. 18-year-old Isabella Guzman brutally stabbed her mother Yun-Mi Hoy to death in the face a total of 79 times after sending her an e-mail a few days before saying “you will pay.” The out-of-control Colorado teenager was said to have behavioral issues since she was 7, according to her step-father Ryan Hoy. Guzman’s mother felt threatened after receiving the scary e-mail and notified the police. However, it was too late. Hoy told police that he heard his wife calling his name but when he tried to open the bathroom door, Guzman was holding it so he could not get through. When he finally entered, he saw his wife laying there covered in blood. The affidavit said, “He never heard Guzman say anything, and she didn’t speak to him as she exited the bathroom. Guzman was just staring straight ahead when she walked past him.”
James Holmes has decided to enter a not guilty plea by reason of insanity for the horrible massacre he caused at a Colorado movie theater last July. His lawyers said in a court filing they plan to formally ask for the change of plea at a May 13th hearing. A judge in the case had previously entered the standard “not guilty” plea for him, and if the judge accepts the new one, Holmes would be sent to the state mental hospital, where doctors would determine whether he was insane at the time of the shootings. If the doctors do determine that Holmes was insane, a jury could still find him guilty. Colorado law defines insanity as the inability to distinguish right from wrong, caused by a diseased or defective mind. The law specifically excludes depravity, “moral obliquity” or passion caused by anger or hatred from being considered insanity. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
Prosecturs have rejected James Holmes’ plea deal, and plan to seek the death penalty for the Dark Knight shooter. “It is my determination and my intention that in this case for James Eagan Holmes, justice is death,” Arapahoe County District Attorney George Brauchler said in a statement. Holmes’ attorneys are expected to argue that he was legally insane at the time of the shooting and therefore shouldn’t be sentenced to death. Do you think he should get death, or suffer in prison for life?
Dark Knight shooter James Holmes plans to enter a guilty plea for his massacre back in July, in exchange to not receive the death penalty. His legal team offered the deal to prosecutors today, but they have not yet accepted. They’ll likely consult with the families of the victims first. What do you think he deserves? Death now, or suffering in jail?
