As you may know, the officer who is responsible for the death of Eric Garner was not indicted. This news was delivered shortly after the non-indictment of the now former Officer Darren Wilson, who is responsible for the murder of teenager Michael Brown. Many celebrities took to social media and expressed their disappointment in Americas justice system. Some even went as far as protesting the streets of NY and Missouri on behalf of both victims that were clearly of African American decent. On Thursday, Gabrielle Union interviewed with HuffPost’s Live host Marc Lamont Hill. They discussed a series of topics, one being the recent news of Eric Garner. Union expresses her feelings of the lack of compassion in these tragic situations stating: “You have to have a complete lack of humanity to not at least acknowledge that there’s a whole chunk of our country and the world that experiences life and all that it has to offer differently. Have compassion for the pain. Have compassion for that difference. Have compassion that a man has lost his life after pleading repeatedly — 11 times — ‘I cannot breathe.” Watch the video below as Gabrielle Union Comments On The Eric Garner Case
Larry King is still getting some of the best interviews post-CNN, He sat down with T.I. and brought up what Raven Symone said about not wanting to be labeled as ‘African-American’, she’s just ‘American’, and Tip had some really great points!
Rumors have surfaced alleging that there are simmering tensions between players stemming from strained relationships with Wilson. Now it’s being reported that tensions are due to Wilson’s race. Hit the jump for details.
Someone was listening a little too hard to Kanye’s “New Slaves.” A Pennsylvania newspaper had to apologize on behalf of their editorial cartoon, which compared modern-day air travel to the “Middle Passage” aka slave ships. The trans-Atlantic leg of the slave trade continues to be a very touchy topic that involves brutal experiences of most of our ancestors. The slave trade involved transporting captive Africans to the Americas to be sold into bondage… YEA, nothing to make light of.
