Nassau County has accumulated $729,000 in State & Federal grants to help restore & reform it’s juvenile justice system. The emphasis will be on keeping more young offenders from being locked up & entering the states penal system according to the County Executive, Edward Mangano. Brooklyn Father Holds 2 Kids Hostage Inside A Bed-Stuy Apartment
Around 11AM today an estranged father locked himself & his two children inside an apartment on 1401 Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn. The children’s mother, filled with anxiety collapsed outside the hostage negotiator vehicle around 1:10PM about 3 hours into the standoff. Then at about 3PM the police standoff ended & the mans three year old daughter as well as his 11-year-old son were safely reunited with their mother while the man was taken to the hospital. Three Rescued From Midtown Spa Blaze, 1 FDNY Injured
The FDNY responded heavy this morning to a fire at the Happy Valley Spa on the second floor of a five-story building at 31 West 46th Street close to 5th Avenue. More than a dozen firetrucks & ambulances rushed to the blaze after it was called in @ 10:38AM.
