With so much going on concerning the African-American community, there’s been criticism that we don’t have any leaders that are the faces of the movements. We used to have Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X and more. Martin Luther King III, however, said we shouldn’t embrace a messiah complex of just one leader. He said he’s proud of what LeBron James and Colin Kaepernick have been doing.
TMZ Sports spoke with MLK III at LAX Monday where he explained how Lebron and Colin were the closest thing to modern day black leadership, referring to Kaepernick famously taking a knee during the National Anthem and LeBron promoting social activism at this year’s ESPYs with Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, and Chris Paul.
