Fans have been anxiously awaiting Frank Ocean’s sophomore album, Boys Don’t Cry, since he announced it over a year ago. It was supposed to come out last summer and has had multiple false release dates since then, with the most promising happening earlier this month when Frank began a weird live stream with Apple Music. A seemingly solid report was published saying that it would finally be released later that week, and of course, that still didn’t happen. Needless to say, fans are at their wits end!

When Channel Orange producer Malay engaged in a fan Q&A on Reddit earlier this week, he was naturally bombarded with questions about the project, and after one fan wrote an extremely long essay, he finally decided to give a response – despite his initial disclaimer that he was not going to answer any questions about the album.

“First of all we all massively appreciate and love you guys, Frank has told me this himself many times. To be fair tho, art cannot be rushed. It’s about making sure the perfect aesthetic for the situation has been reached, to do that, takes constant tweaking, trial and error.. That goes for any creative sitution.”

Sooo…yeah, we still don’t have an answer. Or an album. I’m losing hope.
