Draymond Green won’t have to worry about the possibility of jail time for smacking former Michigan State football player Jermaine Edmondson, thanks to a plea deal that basically makes all of this go away. Edmondson thought he was cool and decided to taunt Green all night last week while at a club in Michigan. The taunts eventually led to Green smacking Edmondson, which led to police being called and arresting Green.

The issue was nothing more than your standard disagreement at a bar that didn’t need police to get involved to begin with but Edmondson was carrying on after the fact and wanted Green punished. With the plea deal, Green avoids any jail time and has to pay a small fee.

NBA star Draymond Green has reached a plea agreement that will allow him to avoid jail time and reduce the charges he faced for allegedly slapping a Michigan State University football player to a noise violation, officials announced Friday.

The former MSU All-American will pay a $500 fine and $60 restitution fee. He had faced a charge of misdemeanor assault or misdemeanor assault and battery. A noise violation is a civil infraction.

Because it’s a civil infraction, there is no “guilty” or “not guilty” plea entered. It just goes away. Also, Green cannot contact Jermaine Edmondson — the victim in the case — for a year. Which is probably just fine with Green.
