Jay Z is a powerful guy, especially in the sports world with his Roc Nation Sports but for the first time in likely a while, he felt what it was like to be powerless. He reportedly tried to have Kevin Durant, who is under his Roc Nation umbrella, to meet with both the Nets & Knicks but apparently his request fell on deaf ears.

Jay Z had to sell his small minority stake in the Nets when he got fully involved with Roc Nation and representing athletes but he clearly still has love for the team from his home borough. He also has love for the Garden and that’s why he wanted KD to meet with the teams.
Last night, while live streaming for “The Vertical’s” free agency special, Adrian Wojnarowski made the comment, which Thomas Duffy captured in a tweet, that Hov tried his best but Durant wasn’t having it. “Woj just said Jay Z and Roc Nation pushed Durant to meet with Brooklyn and the Knicks. Didn’t budge”. Can you blame him? Why would KD want to entertain offers from a team in Brooklyn that would struggle to make the playoffs with him, or entertain the Knicks, who have upgraded their roster but still have many unanswered questions of their own. Durant wants to win right now and neither team in the big apple gives him that chance.
All of Durant’s meeting are taking place in the Hamptons this week so at least temporarily he is the king of New York. Sorry Hov! Check the gallery
