Apparently it’s not just Twitter. Fans often talk trash or even threaten the lives of athletes on Twitter if they didn’t perform well during the game. The ability to say what you want behind distance and sometimes anonymity, has spawned a generation of keyboard thugs. It appeared Trevor Ariza wanted to teach one Tweeter a lesson.
During the Houston Rockets season, a fan tweeted Ariza saying if he tried one more pull-up jumper then he would pull up at Trevor’s house. Ariza replied, telling the fan to pull up then but nothing occurred.
With the season over, Ariza remembered the tweet and direct messaged the fan, letting him know that he was now available to pull up at the Tweeters house instead. The two exchanged more words and the fan gave Ariza his phone number to make the linkup happen. The fan posted the messages on Twitter, alerting everyone as to what was going on. Ariza said that’s snitching and declined the altercation. It also turns out he was in LA during the whole exchange while the fan was in Houston.
Ariza later took to his Twitter account and said the issue was not serious at all and that he never really had any intention of fighting the fan. I’m sure if he would’ve, it would definitely violate the NBA’s code of conduct and cost him quite a few coins.
