21-year-old Marquez Tolbert and his boyfriend Anthony Gooden were severely burned in there sleep by Martin Blackwell. Blackwell is reportedly dating Gooden’s mother. The two were sleeping in Gooden’s mother’s home, when Blackwell walked in and poured hot water on them. Tolbert says the man pulled him up and said,‘Get out of my house with all that gay [expletive].’
Tolbert says,
“The pain doesn’t let you sleep. It’s just, like, it’s excruciating, 24 hours a day, and it doesn’t go anywhere.”
He suffered second- and third-degree burns to his neck, back, and arms. Tolbert also had to undergo surgery which required the skin on his thigh to go on his back. Blackwell clearly had no remorse for this crime. When he gave his statement he said,
“They’ll be all right. It was just a little hot water on them.”
He has been charged with two counts of aggravated battery and is currently still in jail.
