San Antonio police say the quarterback was arrested following a fight at Pat O’Brien’s located on 242 Losoya Street. Boykin was accused of indiscriminately hitting a patrol officer around 1:52 a.m Thursday morning.
Police say the trouble began when bar patrons recognized the player and exchanged words. They say an upset Boykin allegedly took a swing, missed, and made contact with a bar employee instead. As security worked to stop the fight, people were moved outside.
At that point, police say bike officers arrived and came upon Boykin as he was taking swings and say the player indiscriminately hit an officer. Upon threatening to tase him, police say he calmed down. Boykin is in town for Saturday’s Alamo Bowl.
Police said Boykin is being charged with assault of a public official, resisting arrest, and public intoxication. TCU issued the following response to the situation, “We are aware of a situation last night and are gathering information. We will continue to closely monitor this and evaluate additional details as they become available.”
