Ellis’s struggle was covered on news station ABC 7. The story went viral and many people tried to come together and figure out how they were going to help this struggling family. Ellis is known to be the voice of struggling families in Chicago. She was super overwhelmed with all the support that people were sending. But someone outweighed all the support when they offered to pay Ellis’s rent for a whole year! She would be able to pick the neighborhood of her choice. Thats an awesome gift.

Upon receiving the phone call, Ellis said,
“It’s indescribable. I didn’t know how to process it,” Ellis said, recalling her reaction when she received the phone call.

“No one has ever done anything like that for me.”

Her kids will now have their own rooms. The donor, who is anonymous has also offered to provide food and household essentials for the family. They also offered gifts for the children and job services for Latoya Ellis.

Ellis says her main goal is obtain her Bachelors degree, continue to save money to open a catering business and also spread goodwill. She says,

“Most of all, I just want to pay it forward. I’m going to continue advocating, I’m going to continue volunteering — it’s not just about my family.”

I guess its safe to say that there are a lot of good people still out there. Bless this donors heart.
