Johnny Depp is known not only for his fantastic roles in great movies such as “Edward Scissorhands” and “Pirates of the Caribbean,” but also his huge heart. Deep always makes it a priority to go out to different children’s hospitals and bless sick children with his presence and kind words. He usually goes dressed up as a character of some sort to make light of bad situations for these children.
During a appearance on “The Graham Norton Show,” Depp explains his reasoning behind the frequent hospital visits to the ill children. He talked about his daughter being hospitalized in 2007, after almost dying from E.Coli.
“I’ve known darkness in my life, but that was the darkest period ever. I’ve always kind of done these visits, but after that the visits became more and more important, because the kids, bless them, you know they’re so strong, they’re so courageous — but the parents are the ones who are slowly dying. And to be able to bring a smile or a giggle to these people is — it means everything in the world to me.”
Over the summer, Depp went to a children’s hospital in Australia dressed and in character as Jack Sparrow. The kids were beyond happy to see him. The looks on their faces were priceless! Well done Depp.
