Hillary Clinton was interrupted by a slew of Black student activist today at her criminal justice speech in Atlanta. Her speech came to a calm as one student yelled out “Black Lives Matter.”
Clintons response to the chanting was,
“Yes, they do. Yes, they do, and I’m going to talk a lot about that in a minute.”
The protestors are from an organization in the Atlanta University Center Consortium that represents Morehouse, Spelman, Clark Atlanta, and also the Interdenominational Theological Center. A twitter account associated with the organization, sent out a tweet saying,
“We charge the administration, law enforcement, and collective student bodies of the Atlanta University Center (AUC) for the multiple offenses committed against black and brown lives.”
The account captured several videos of what was going on at the speech, including a man in the video saying,
“We’re not going to allow for Hillary to come here and have a cookie-cutter black conversation and to exploit … black production for her vote.”
Another woman stated,
“Hillary come in … to get votes but no one has reached out to the student population [and] asked what their opinions were, what they have issues with.”
Our black people are getting tired and want to be heard.
Students, don't stop demanding attention to this critical issue. #WatchNow #AUCShutItDown https://t.co/oeDtDQszx2
