It’s been a rough year for hip-hop in New York City. While we can’t accept that Sean Price passed away, the family, friends and fans are still mourning the untimely death of Lionel “Chinx” Pickens earlier this year. In honor of the fallen Riot Squad MC, REVOLT put together an elaborate documentary that tells Chinx’s story with the help of Chinx’s family, Diddy, French Montana and more. Watch the documentary after the jump.
REVOLT recently released Chinx’s detailed documentary which tells his full life story, from his come-up after he was released from jail to the time he finished his debut and final album Welcome To JFK. His wife Janelli Caceres-Pickens, his mother, cousin and other family friends shed light on his childhood growing up in Far Rockaway, Queens. Diddy, French Montana, Fabolous, N.O.R.E, and industry insiders like Shaheem Reid and Sha Money XL speak about his impact on New York hip-hop.
“I just get frustrated because I knew this was his time,” said French Montana.
The documentary also details the story of early stages of Chinx’s music career and explains how he got his former alias “Chinx Drugz.” The mini-biography also described how the “Feelings” rapper started running around with the Riot Squad and what made his bond with Stack Bundles strong during his time in jail. It’s definitely something to watch all the way through to Chinx’s emotional sendoff.
