According to firefighters, The Flight for Life medical helicopter operated by St. Anthony Hospital has crashed near Vail, Colorado.

Tineil Ilano, spokeswoman for the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, said no one was killed in the explosion as it was engulfed in flames with three medical personnel on board. No patients were in the helicopter but one person is critically injured.
Witness Curt Weitkunat said The Flight-for-Life chopper was taking off from St. Anthony Summit Medical Center when it began to spiral out of control and crash into the ground.

The helicopter never gained much altitude as he watched through the trees. At most, he said, it was about 100 feet off the ground before it came crashing back down, noted Mr. Weitkunat.
