Orange is the New Black’s star Laverne Cox was recently honored by Madame Tussaud’s Wax museum with her very own wax figure. This marked a huge moment for Laverne, not only for her career but for the history of transgender people, as she was the first transgender person to receive this honor.The figure of the actress is on display at San Francisco branch of the famous museum. Seeing Double! The wax figure of Laverne Cox that stands proudly in the Madame Tussaud’s Wax museum resembled the actress to the T. The wax figure wears a simple but classic cocktail dress and has Laverne’s signature blonde locks and pointed toe pumps.
At the unveiling they looked strikingly similar Laverne wearing a mini-dress, loose curls and even the same shoes as her wax double.
Cox was so happy about the opportunity to be the museum as well as the first transgender person to do so. She said,
“I am so deeply honoured to have been asked to be part of the Madame Tussauds legacy,’ she added, ‘When I think about being who I am, a black trans woman from a working class background raised in Mobile, Alabama, this honour feels even more improbable and extraordinary.”
