In this year’s NBA Finals, both coaches seem to be catching heat for the lack of utilizing their bench. Steve Kerr and the Warriors finally made an adjustment by adding David Lee into their rotation and it definitely boosted their game on both ends of the floor. Blatt and the Cavs have a number of veterans with championship experience but they continue to use a 7-man rotation.

Shawn Marion is coming off of a championship that he won with the Dallas Mavs back in 2011. Not so much of the offensive asset that many would be looking for; however, he is another body that Blatt could use to amp up the defense. So far in these Finals, he has not been effective.

It is no secret that Marion announced that this will be his final season in the league, no matter the outcome of this year’s Finals. At this point, it seems that he is solely on the team to give words of encouragement and to be a veteran force in the locker room, but he is definitely more than that.

Marion was asked about his current role with the Cavs and he said, “Is this how I wanted to go out? No, not playing right now…I would love to be on the floor helping the guys more if it were possible…its coaching and timing,” and he is absolutely right. Blatt’s rookie experience in the league is definitely showing right now.

It does not take a rocket scientist to see that Blatt’s 7 man rotation is leaving them gassed by the time the 3rd quarter rolls around; so, utilizing a veteran with championship experience can only help with pushing his squad to the next level in getting those rings.

Will he make a change for game 5 on Sunday?
