We’ve all been amazed when Stephen Curry’s dribbles through traffic and makes an incredible shot, with barely any space between him and the defender. When Kyrie Irving’s healthy, we’ve seen his amazing ball handle ability to get past multiple defenders and leave some looking silly after they touch Earth. Today Lebron James took upon himself to declare that Curry and Irving are two of the best ball handlers to ever play the game.
As Lebron James prepares for the finals tomorrow, he hasn’t stopped short of parsing the teammates that helped him get there this season, but he’s always given credit to other great players around the league, as well.
James knows the game extremely well, which suits his ability to not only beat teams with his unworldly physical abilities, but also by reading defenses and using his basketball I.Q. to get past them. He’s also an Nba history buff, and knows a lot of what the people before him did to play at a high level.
So when James says that Irving and Curry may be some of the best ball-handlers the game has ever seen, you might want to take his word for it. Heres what he had to say:
“They are two of the best ball handlers that this league has ever seen,” James said Wednesday at Oracle Arena, where the teams held their final practice before the start of the series.
“Their ability to make shots off the handle, Steph’s ability to use his handle to get off shots, those step-backs and Kyrie’s ability to be crafty, use his ability to get into the lane and make shots. When you have a handle like that, you can pretty much get any shot you want, and they both show you that. With their speed, their change of pace, their ballhandling, and then their ability to shoot the ball. They can absolutely just shoot the rock.”
