Gregg Popovich and the San Antonio Spurs just got eliminated from the playoffs after losing a heartbreaker against the Los Angeles Clippers, with a gutsy performance from Chris Paul. Now the questions that seem to arise every year with the aging Spurs roster is wether Pop’ and his aging core group are going to return next season.

Tim Duncan has had a sensational, Hall of Fame worthy career while finding the longevity to still play at a high level at 39-years-old. So, while its always a question weather him and 37-year-old teammate Manu Ginobili, Popovich believes they’ll be back next season

“People ask me about Tim [Duncan] and Manu [Ginobili] and myself for the last five years, what we’re going to do,” Popovich said. “It’s all psycho babble. I have no clue. We’ll probably come back. Paycheck is pretty good. You think I’m lying.”

While Popovich has made it known that he would also retire when Duncan decides to call it a career, Duncan chose not to talk on the matter of retirement at this moment in time.

Manu Ginobili gave some insight on his thought process going in to next season:

“I don’t know. It could happen easily. I still don’t know what I want to do and I don’t want to make decisions right after the disappointment [of] a game like this,” Ginobili said when asked whether he had thoughts on retirement. “Some days you feel proud and you think you did great. Other games you think, ‘What the hell am I doing here? I might as well stay home and enjoy my kids.’ It’s a tough moment. You just have to sit, wait, let it all go and make a decision.”

With the help of rising star and defensive player of the year, Kawhi Leonard, the Spurs have found themselves as one of the best teams in basketball with their propensity to move the ball and timely shooting. We’ll just have to wait and see what the NBA offseason entails this year for the San Antonio Spurs.
