Joseph Kent a known protester from the Ferguson protests was grabbed by police on live television last night in Baltimore. Read more to see the disturbing video and huge social media reaction
Protesters and viewers at home were in shock when they saw the guerilla style take down of 21 year old Morgan State University student Joseph Kent. It was shortly after curfew in Baltimore and Joseph Kent was standing in front of a line of National Guard troops non-violently putting his hands up when a military humvee approached. The humvee drew closer and so did a squadron of troops with riot shields forcing gray to be flanked behind the car. Apparently he was pushed in the car and was processed last night at Central Bookings and is scheduled to have a radio interview with Pacifica Radio.
Chris Cumo of CNN who witnessed the entire ordeal had this to say “They drove the vehicle up and when it got close enough to create a wedge they ran out an grabbed him, pinned him against that and arrested him,” He also told viewers Tuesday night that police had earlier shot pepper spray at the young protester as he approached their line in the street. “He told all the media, you need to disperse, and then as he was walking back and forth the humvee came and they used it as an opportunity and he’s been taken into custody.”
Talib Kweli was on of the first to tweet out last night at 2am “Where is #JosephKent stay awake people” Along with many following ending their posts with #JosephKent to spread the awareness situation. Many gave anchor Chris Cuomo a little flak wondering if he responded correctly or looked as thought he wasn’t paying attention. The turmoil in Baltimore will hopefully quiet down soon but it is the responsibility of law makers to address the severe police brutality seen in America today.
