For some time now, hip-hop and country music have made attempts at collaborations. There is Lil Wayne and Kid Rock, LL Cool J and Brad Paisley with “Accidental Racist,” and even Nelly himself linked up with country star Toby McGuire for “Over and Over.” However, for Nelly to release a full-blown country-based LP is like … whettttt?!
Yes, Nelly’s new manager, J. Erving admits that he’ll be releasing the LP, “Heartland.”

While I am a fan of all music, including country, conjoining two of the different genres just doesn’t seem fitting. We shall see if it can be pulled off by the “Country Grammar” king himself, Nelly.
“He’s a free agent on the label side now, and is working on a country-based ‘Heartland’ EP, which should be really interesting. He may be one of the first hip-hop artists to jump into that space in an authentic way with Florida Georgia Line and Tim McGraw, so we think he has an opportunity to grow that base even more.”
THOUGHTS!? Granted most of IFWT readers are lovers of hip-hop, but are you interested? Would you buy it? Would you listen to the live stream?
