Mountain Climbers had to spend the night in camps after the Mount Everest Avalanche! A whole day later rescue helicopters finally where able to fly down to Mount Everest to pick up the badly injured from the Nepal earthquake.
Earthquakes tend to trigger more than just a rumble. The 7.8 magnitude earthquake that destroyed Nepal also triggered the Mount Everest Avalanche which caused many to become trapped, injured, and killed. At least 18 people are dead and dozens injured from the avalanche. There are many that may have been on the mountain at the time of the avalanche that are still missing. A survivor from the avalanche and one of the first to take the rescue chopper to Kathmandu stated,
“The snow swept away many tents and people,” said Gyelu Sherpa, a sunburned
guide among the first group of 15 injured survivors to reach Kathmandu, according to the Associated Press.
Choppers arrived earlier today to take the first of the many injured. Those who needed immediate attention where to get on the first batch of choppers. It was hard to determine who would get to go on the first rescue chopper but the climbers are working together to make sure everyone is properly treated. They have also formed clinics on the mountain to treat those that need medical attention for right now.
