At around midnight, Chile’s Calbuco volcano erupted after its initial eruption on Wednesday. It was said that the first eruption was as an alarm to prepare the town.
“At the beginning, it was small and later, the cloud grew and later there was a huge cloud over you and true terror starts,”says one Puerto Montt resident.
One person begins to explain how amazing the “mushroom type” cloud looked in the sky. But once that was seen, people became worried and chaos erupted. People began to then go into supermarkets, ATMs, and causing traffic jams simply because they were so scared.
Chile’s volcano eruption is something new to many people in this region, being that this was the first eruption in over 40 years. The last major eruption actually happened in 1962.
A 12- mile exclusion zone was created around the crater to prevent any damages to civilians. Authorities of the region has evacuated over 1,500 people to safer conditions to prevent anything that could happen.
