It’s been a long road coming for Boosie Badazz. After coming home from prison last year, the Baton Rouge emcee has been releasing mixtapes like 2014’s Life After Deathrow and the Bad Azz Music group mixtape Every Ghetto, Every City Vol. 1, but put off releasing his first post-jail, full length album Touch Down 2 Cause Hell. We’ve been hearing scattered songs from his latest project like “No Juice” and the most recent single “Retaliation.” During his private listening session last night (Apr 22), Boosie revealed why he held back on dropping the album. Find out the back story after the jump!

Atlantic Records held a private listening session for Boosie Badazz’s upcoming studio album Touch Down 2 Cause Hell. The industry’s top journalists, bloggers, personalities and insiders were in attendance to hear Boosie’s ultimate reflection of the past five years in jail. Shade 45’s own Sway Calloway took the lead by holding a brief interview in between each song.

The tracklist is scattered with valuable appearances from Jeezy, Young Thug, Rich Homie Quan, Chris Brown and Keyshia Cole to name a few. While the features light up the project, Boosie’s solo tracks go just as hard like “Retaliation” and the emotionally-charged “I’m Sorry.” During the event, he spoke with BET and revealed why the album took so long to seethe light of day.

“The music is the easy part,” Boosie told BET. “The business is the hard part. When you are dealing with producers, trying to track them down. Other people might say, ‘Oh, it was a swap.’ And when you back and the lawyers saying this and that. Business plays a lot of part in this. The music is the easy part. Now, I see as me being the first time in this position how the business is crazy.”
