Brooklyn Getting New Notorious BIG Mural

The legend is sure to continue as Brooklyn Paying Homage to Notorious BIG With New Mural. Now where exactly in Brooklyn and because he used to do what there??? Now that’s interesting…

There’s been a lot of flashbacks since the anniversary of Biggie’s death this past March 9th (We’ll always love BIG Poppa *prayer hands*). Since the top of the year we’ve seen a lot of exclusive footage being released from the memory vaults of Hip Hop. Everything from him and Nas freestyling in ’95, to Faith Evans taking a trip down the lane with Nessa, to Lil’ Cease talking his influence and a possible Junior M.A.F.I.A. reunion, to our own Flex digging up Biggie’s first radio interview ever (epic)! Now Brooklyn Paying Homage to Notorious BIG With New Mural and the details are definitely priceless.

According to Vibe and DNAInfo, street artist Danielle Mastrion will have Brooklyn Paying Homage to Notorious BIG With New Mural by…a Key Food supermarket??? Here’s why:

“In the latest effort to commemorate the rapper in his hometown, a new mural has been commissioned to be featured on the Key Food market where a young Christopher Wallace used to bag groceries.”

…wow, OK! Talk about humble beginnings…Brooklyn Paying Homage to Notorious BIG With New Mural and Danielle is trying to upgrade the whole “RIP mural” game:

Danielle Mastrion, the street artist tapped to bring the new Biggie image to life, shared that the upcoming piece would take a different route in representing the rapper. The mural will represent B.I.G. as a child, before he spit his way into the rap history books. “This is about his roots and not the rap icon that he became,” she said. “It will be of him as a child sitting on the steps of his brownstone, like any other kid in the neighborhood.”

While she gets her pencils and paint ready for the Brooklyn Paying Homage to Notorious BIG With New Mural on St. James and Fulton she’s got plenty of experience: she was also the artist for the Beastie Boys mural in LES. Organizers of the mural point to how important the five to seven block radius of the neighborhood was to BIG. Its reported to be done over three days at the end of March. This is definitely BIG. Check the gallery for the notorious legacy of murals…

RIP
