James Harden is having an MVP worthy season and as the Houston Rockets rested on the verge of blowing a big fourth-quarter lead to the host Phoenix Suns on Friday night, the NBA’s leading scorer reminded everyone of his genius.
With the clock ticking down under 15 seconds and the score tied at 111, Harden opened Houston’s final possession by running some time off in preparation for a final shot. At the five-second mark, Harden drove left on P.J. Tucker and away from a Phoenix double team provided by Isaiah Thomas. Harden was able to loose Tucker off the dribble to set up a clean step-back jumper from just inside the three-point line. Harden buried the walk-off shot over Thomas as time expired.
Harden finished with a game-high 33 points, 10 assists and six rebounds. Five other Rockets players finished in double figures. Before his buzzer-beater, Harden had an arguably more impressive highlight (out of context, at least) when he sent Eric Bledsoe sprawling with a Eurostep in transition:
