Taco Bell Makes Statement for Leaked “Gay” Ad after a gay-themed television commercial went viral on Youtube and internet blogs last week. What everyone was wondering is did the fast food chain REALLY create this? The million dollar company had a very interesting response.
Taco Bell Makes Statement for Leaked “Gay” Ad as the internet started moving a rather obscure but professionally done video that left some questions in the air. The video involves two Caucasian males who stop at the food chain and contemplate after one says to the other, “I wonder what else we could fit in before work?”
The commercial proceeds to show them jet skiing, spooning at a picnic in the park, dressed as pirates on a beach in a treasure hunt, and riding a motorcycle into work among other adventures. When you see the ad you’ll agree, it looks like a quality project. “Maybe,” you’d think to yourself, “they’re trying to reach more people” or some other ‘market growth from the gay community’ rationale. But actually–not quite!
Taco Bell Makes Statement for Leaked “Gay” Ad and in a twist had this to say:
“We didn’t create this ad, but we can see the people who did share the same Live Mas passion for our brand — and our breakfast—as we do. Although we cannot condone unauthorized use of our intellectual property, we are impressed with their work and would be open to meeting with them.”
Check the vid for yourself. Either someone had a Taco Bell obsession and way too much time and money on their hands, or they were setting the chips up to negotiate a marketing deal, or maybe this is just a masterful publicity stunt by Taco Bell themselves.
Either way, Taco Bell #ForTheWin.
