Holy cow! I believe that all biopics are suppose to inform you of something that’s not easily searchable on Google. With that being said, the Angela Bassett directed biopic of Whitney Houston should be a jaw-dropper. Rumor mill is spinning and the news is that Whitney Houston was in a longtime relationship with her assistant, Robyn Crawford.

Apparently, this story has been told many times, but somehow got past me. In 2012, gay activist, Peter Tatchell’s theory was that Whitney had broke off the lesbian affair with Crawford to get with Bobby Brown so that the rumors of her sexual orientation could die down. It was said that this break-up is what caused her ‘drug problem’. During one interview in the 80s the New Jersey singer was asked about dating women and she replied, “What others do shouldn’t matter. Let people talk. It doesn’t bother me because I know I’m not gay. I don’t care.”

The lesbian relationship with Crawford is said to be a small portion of the upcoming biopic. I don’t know if Angela Bassett would take things that far, but it would be interesting to see.
