Since the ripe age of 14, Lil Wayne has remained a consistent pioneer in the rap industry. Unlike some child actors we may know, this artist hasn’t taken the dive of the ‘looney’ end just yet. We can chuck that up to what he believes is the reasoning for his longtime stamp in rap; the music. Plain and simple.

Tunechi explains his longevity as he covers Nylon Guy’s December/January issue. “That’s all I do and all I know, 366 days a year, 25 hours a day, eight days a week,” Wayne says to Jeff Weis, contributing writer at Nylon. “This is my life and what I breathe … This isn’t something I do. It’s who I am.” Damn, he added time. If you’re wondering if that’s even possible, we’re pretty sure it only works if you’re Wayne.

On His Process
“I’m just a regular street n***a that’s a little smarter than the rest. I rap whatever comes up in my head. Whatever rhymes with the next word and how I’m feeling. I start rapping and we find something within what I just said and make a song out of it.”

On Weed
“I don’t know how it works, but I know that I need weed…extra when I’m creating. It helps in a major way.”
