Obviously the big thing in the NBA lately is creating Big 3’s. It isn’t necessarily a new practice but after the Boston Celtics put together Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen then even more notably the Miami Heat put LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh together, more teams feel like they have to form a Big 3 in order to compete. Now of course putting three major players on one team won’t come cheap. We’ve got the list of the most expensive Big 3’s and unfortunately for some of them, Big 3 doesn’t always mean enhanced performance.
The team at the top of the list is of course the team with the highest salary in the history of the NBA, the Brooklyn Nets. Joe Johnson, Deron Williams and Brook Lopez are the most expensive Big 3 in the league. Unfortunately Williams and Lopez have both battled constant injuries and Johnson is just… well you never know if he’ll be on or completely off.
Coming in second is another New York team, the Knicks with Carmelo Anthony, Amare Stoudemire and Andrea Bargnani. I shudder to even call them a Big 3. Most Knicks fans are waiting for Stoudemire and Bargnani’s contracts to come off the books at the end of this season. Both have battled injuries and both are way down on the production scale.
The rest of the list is pretty decent.
