As fans, we love the idea of having an extra day out of the week to watch some of our favorite teams take the field, but don’t tell that to Arian Foster. The Texans running back made some interesting comments about players safety during Thursday Night Football games. Hit the jump for details.
Via Complex Sports:
“I don’t know a player that likes it,” Foster said via the Houston Chronicle. “I really don’t know a fan that likes it, either. I think it’s just the league’s way of trying to generate more revenue.”
“They emphasize concussions when they start getting hit with lawsuits and they care about the players’ safety but Thursday Night Football is putting every player on the football field in danger,” he added.
From an entertainment standpoint, this year’s slate of Thursday night contests have been borderline unwatchable with teams losing by an average of 28.8 points. The NFL may need to rethink this whole Thursday thing when the season comes to an end, but until then players, like Foster, will need to grin and bear it. What are your thoughts? Should they continue to have these games in 2015? Let us know in the comments section.
