Nigeria’s former president Olusegun Obasanjo told media that some of the estimated 2oo girls abducted may never return. Obasanjo criticized current president Goodluck Jonathan administration for taking too long to respond to the tragedy. This is a point that has been echoed all around the world since the abductions began.
The parents who have now waited over 60 days for any news or sign of their daughters now have to live with this warning. Obasanjo pointed out the current government as the cause of this failure , the army’s lack of urgency. “If the administration had acted quickly, we could have rescued them,” he said. This all leads up to the election coming up in 2015 for Nigeria creating some serious political conflict. “If you get all of them back, I will consider it a near-miracle … Do you think they (Boko Haram) will hold all of them together up till now? The logistics for them to do that, holding over 200 girls together, is too much,” Obasanjo said. We can only hope for nothing short of a miracle for these girls. #Bringbackourgirls
