These NYC characters don’t play with their turf. Apparently two men who were dressed up as the Statue Of Liberty started fighting after one confronted the other for working in his territory. And by working we mean charging tourists to take pictures with them. Find out more about the brawl after the jump!
I guess this can’t be surprising activity for NYC. On Wednesday (June 11) the two were stationed in front of the Marriot Marquis at Broadway and 45th Street at around 4 p.m. waiting for tourists to flock together shelling out their money to snap some corny pics.
Upon noticing his competition, Alexander Lopez, 41, demanded that the 23 year old unidentified man leave his spot ASAP. When the young man didn’t back down Lopez allegedly pushed him to the ground and caused him minor injuries. That’s not where the trouble ensued though.
The next day, the two returned to the very same spot to unexpectedly meet their rivals, where the victim from the altercation the day before phoned police having Lopez arrested.
Lopez was then hauled off, dressed as the very statue that stands in the honor of freedom, in cuffs and was charged with assault.
