Ever read the expiration date on that loaf of bread, just to find out that it’s expired, and wonder, what would happen if I still ate this? Well wonder no more! Here are 5 food items that are still good to eat after their expiration date.
1. Eggs:
Although eggs have an expiration date marked on their carton, the small food with a pack of protein, are still good past its expiration date. The date is put the carton for retailer’s purposes and “isn’t a measure of freshness”. Eggs can allegedly be kept fresh for up to 3-5 weeks in the refrigerator.
2. Cereal:
The sugary flakes that come within the cereal box, may also have a ‘Best Enjoyed By’: date but can also preserved longer if the bag is simply rolled tightly within the box. The cereal can last there more months this, way.
3. Apples:
Heres a trick to preserve your apples longer! “Store your favorite reds in the fridge (place them in a plastic bag; poke a few holes to allow air to circulate), and they’ll still be good to eat three weeks later.”
4.Deli Meat:
Although some of your favorite sandwich meats may have an expiration date of one to two weeks, if the package is left unopen and completely sealed, the meat can be used for an extra two weeks before or after the sell by date.
5. Finally, Bread!
The heavenly, overlooked carb royalty that is Bread can also be used to its maximum potential by merely placing the loaf in the fridge. Bread last up to two weeks longer if stashed in a very cool place, like a fridge!
