A mother pays a tribute to her 5 day old deceased son by adding a sandbox to his grave. She did this so that her older son can still play with his brother. Check out photos and read more about this touching story below!
The mother, Ashlee Hammac, who is 24, shared a photo of her son playing in the sandbox. The photo quickly went viral with over 220,000 people sharing the pic. She came up with the idea after she realized her older son, Tucker, 3, needed a place to mourn. Ashlee Hammac says, “He always goes out there with me, and sits out there, and sings lullabies, and talks to him just like he was there. So I wanted it to be special for him too. His favorite thing right now is trucks.” Tucker even asks his mom if he could go to “baby Ryan’s sandbox.”
Ryan passed away of Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephlopathy, which is a brain dysfunction when there is no blood flow to the brain. He only had a 1 in 8 chance of living. The infant’s heart was donated to save another baby’s life.
