Not in music, but in television, yes. According to “The Hollywood Reporter,” FOX has pulled the plug on “The X Factor,” and will not be returning for a fourth season.
The FOX network has cancelled singing competition show after 3 seasons. I can’t say I didn’t see this coming. The show has been struggling for ratings since season one, firing ex-American Idol judge, Paul Abdul and ex-Pussycat Doll, Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones for hotter, more relevant celebrities.
In season 2, FOX thought bringing in Britney Spears as a judge and Khloe Kardashian as a co-host would boost ratings, both didn’t make it past one season, and it was a failed attempt. The for season 3, Paulina Rubio and Kelly Rowland were brought on as new judges.
News of the cancelation comes on the same day at that U.K. broadcaster ITV, announced that Simon Cowell is returning the original U.K’s X-Factor this fall.
Too bad for The X Factor, but at least we still have American Idol, and The Voice.
Although Rowland is no longer judging music hopefuls, she has a wedding to look forward to, and hopefully this means new music from the songstress as well.
