Of course you know Lebron James is very familiar with a big free agency decision. In fact he himself turned it into a telecast entitled “The Decision” in which he decided to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers and team up with Dwyane Wade on the Miami Heat. The hoopla turned into a PR disaster for Lebron (even though it was for charity), but two rings later and he’s loved again. Now Carmelo Anthony is faced with a similar predicament as he decides whether to stay with the New York Knicks or move on. Carmelo hasn’t asked for advice but of course reporters did that for him.

“You got to do whatever makes you happy,” James said before Thursday night’s Knicks-Heat game at the Garden. “When you’re happy, the game of basketball is going to be fun for you. Strive to be great every day and live with whatever else happens. So we’ll see.”
So should ‘Melo consider leaving some money on the table?
“I recommend it to me,” James said. “It doesn’t work for everybody. The way I live my life don’t work for everybody. All I care about is winning. I came to Miami to win. Money didn’t make me happy. Winning made me happy, and it still does. That’s what matters to me.”
Though Lebron’s endorsements make up for his lightened salary, he’s right sometimes you have to leave the money behind to win. Dwight Howard also chose to leave the Lakers in favor of the Houston Rockets hoping it would give him a better chance at winning. Only Carmelo Anthony can make the decision in the end and basically he has to do what’s best for himself and his family.
