Just a few days after winning a lawsuit brought upon himself, Rick Ross has embarked on his own lawsuit against the quirky LMFAO group, hit the jump for more!
Rick ross and producer Jermaine “Mayne Zayne” Jackson of The Runners have officially filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against the pop pair LMFAO for the alleged sampling of “Hustlin” on their track, “Party Rock”. The lawsuit states:
“The use of ‘Hustlin’ ‘ in ‘Party Rock Anthem’ is readily apparent, despite the slight change from ‘Everyday I’m hustlin’ …’ to ‘Everyday I’m shufflin’ …’ and constitutes, inter alia, the creation of an unauthorized derivative work,”.
Material items influenced by the “Party Rock Anthem’s success, is also included within the suit, reading:
“The phrase is so important to the success of ‘Party Rock Anthem,’ that LMFAO launched a highly successful clothing line, Party Rock Clothing, that features the phrase on T-shirts and other clothing items” HipHopDX
After several notifications of the violation, Rick Ross filed the suit on the group, hoping to gain “an injunction and maximum statutory damages”.
