As we gradually shift to the age of people who were toddlers when Michael Jordan touched the court, it seems that the legendary status of the GOAT grows more and more each day.  Now I’m definitely a fan of Jordan and yes I was around to watch to him play (don’t ask my age), but the myth of Jordan is getting out of hand.  There’s a lot of speculation as to how well he would be in today’s game.  While the players aren’t as tough as the players of the 90’s, there’s no doubt there’s an increase in athletic ability with new training techniques.  So how would Jordan fair out in the game today? We don’t know for sure but Horace Grant feels pretty confident about his answer.  Read more after the jump.

Grant is with the Bulls in Rio for an exhibition game and was asked about the tiresome today’s Heat vs. Michael Jordan’s Bulls comparison (please just make it stop). What did you think Grant would say?

Here is his quote, via the Chicago Tribune, which starts off well and ends up in tedious comparison land.

“No, you can’t compare (eras),” he said. “The rules have changed so much from our days and the Heat’s days. It was more physical back then. Today you can run around without getting touched. Today, Michael Jordan would average about 45 points.”

It’s fairly easy to be a high scorer in today’s game considering physicality is prohibited by various new rules.  Still we’re just speculating here.
